Fishermen:
Previously I was doubtful that there would be a spring bite for perch. Yesterday, March 27, I worked East Bay through the ice. In 3 areas, relatively far apart, from just over one foot in depth to over 4 feet I found fish. A lot of small ones but I brought home 3 dozen fillet able fish. A red wanaB 1/8th and 1/4 oz weight was the best producer, baited with nightcrawler.
I don’t know where those fish came from, earlier there seem to be very few there. I don’t think the bite will be quite as productive as past years but along with the possibility of catching pike and small mouth bass it should be fishing there.
Water temperature of 45 degrees above is usually the baginning of good perch activity.
